Manuden, Essex......
Another beautiful little Essex village - "Nourishing to the eye, uplifting to the soul"....
The church has suffered partial rebuilding and drastic restoration since my Amey Carter was baptised there in 1734. Her parents were married in this pretty church in 1714. Along another twig of my tree is the marriage of my Thomas Chaffer and Mary Wilkinson here in 1759.
We met two kind ladies who were removing their flower arrangements from the church for the period of lent. What a lovely setting they live in.
The choir screen is early 15th century.....
There are over 100 splendid hassocks completed by villagers past and present....
The only remaining fragment of ancient glass ....
The Yew Tree, built in the 1600's and does a very fine café latte!
The River Stort......
I wonder if that's Mr O'Leary's finest flying off to sunny Spain ... sigh!
