Greyfriars Tower, Kings Lynn...
The Greyfriars came to Kings Lynn in the 1230's. By 1250 the building of the friary was well underway. In the early 1300's a water supply was brought by a conduit from a spring at North Runcton, over a mile away.....
Bank Lane Arches - these 14th century arches were re-sited from a building at Bank Lane/Ferry Street demolished in 1910....
The friary was closed by order of King Henry VIII in 1538 along with 800 other monasteries and friaries in England and Wales. The tower is all that remains of the friary, and was only allowed to remain as it was a landmark for sailors.....

Our equivalent to Henrik VIII was king Gustav Vasa. He also closed monasteries in Sweden for to make us protestants and thus became the highest religious leader himself.. Very interesting history Cindy and really gorgeous photos!
