Little Easton, Essex....

Little Easton was once a hamlet set in the northern confines of the Forest of Essex which stretched from the north east of London almost to Thaxted.  After the Norman conquest a fortified dwelling was built close by the little Saxon church, which in its turn was rebuilt in the Norman style with a tower.  From 'The Five Parishes' a brief history of Broxted with Chickney, Tilty, Great Easton and Little Easton by Claire Squibb.

I have never been to Little Easton, but I have seen Little Britain on Swedish TV! Is it the same? Ehrm.. In a wintry Sweden I love to see green grass again! Gorgeous old church, I am so glad you also photograph all those decorative details craftsmen put so much effort in making in the past. Briliant photographic work as always Cindy! And with the historic information that gives your photos even more value. Thanks, you are a star!

I would imagine that if genetics are anything to do with it....Your ancestors practically lived in the stocks ! Certain female ancestors might also have had a "swim" in the frozen ducking pond too ! Lovely photographs and especially love to see those wall paintings/frescoes...
