Brandon, Suffolk...

Why was my Gapes family in Brandon in 1821 when they were from Newport in Essex??  They then moved from Brandon to Whitechapel, London.  It is funny when I think of the countless times I've been to Brandon and didn't even know my 5x great grandparents had spent time there!
